Chile Sparks Interest with Students and Adults

Interest in Chile Spanish schools and study abroad programs continues to grow reports AmeriSpan Study Abroad, a leader in facilitating study abroad programs. AmeriSpan has been offering a variety of educational programs in Chile for many years, and the schools have been receiving great interest from students and adults who come from different backgrounds.
Despite a series of earthquakes that shook various regions of the country in 2010, many continue to flock to learn Spanish in Chile. The reasons are many, including a cosmopolitan society based on being a Chilean citizen, not on having a specific ethnic background. The multi-ethnic Chilean society is composed of a great variety of peoples such as indigenous Americans and those with European ancestry from a number of European nations such as Spain and Germany. Chileans are very sociable people and are very understanding of those who are making an effort to learn Spanish, making the country a very appealing place to learn the Spanish language.
AmeriSpan has made available a diverse array of study programs in Chile, including the Spanish immersion classes in Santiago, Pichilemu and Vina del Mar. Tuition at the popular semester in Chile program at the Universidad de Vina del Mar is substantially lower compared to other study abroad organizations. Other programs include volunteer and internship placements, the SALUD Medical Spanish Courses for nursing and medical students and Spanish for professionals. Finally, there also are the Spanish and Surfing and Spanish and Skiing programs for people who want to couple leisure and learning in one experience. The diversity of programs available cater to students and adults from various backgrounds.
“Chile’s popularity as a destination for study abroad programs has grown consistently over the past few years in spite of a powerful earthquake in early 2010. The country offers visitors a wide variety of climates and a range of activities from skiing to wine tasting. However, the welcoming and friendly people of Chile is what makes this country a special destination,” remarked John Slocum, AmeriSpan’s co-founder.
AmeriSpan Study Abroad has been a leader in study abroad for more than 18 years with more than 35,000 past participants. With more than 100 study abroad, language-learning and volunteer programs worldwide, the organization offers programs for participants of all ages, language level and interests. Long an innovator in study abroad, the Philadelphia-based organization was recently named a finalist for the ‘Star Award’ for Best Agency in North America for the fourth consecutive year. AmeriSpan was honored to receive the award in each of the past 2 years. The industry’s prestigious Star Award is voted by organizations worldwide and awarded annually.

12% Discount on Chinese Immersion in China

AmeriSpan Study Abroad, a leader in worldwide language immersion programs, has announced a new Discover China special that offers students off all ages the chance to discover China and the language. Participants will be able to save 12% when they chose to learn Chinese in Beijing or Shanghai. This special offer is available to participants who apply for a Beijing Chinese school or to learn Chinese in Shanghai by September 15, 2011 and start their language immersion program before the end of the year.
China’s economic, political and military influence are expected to continue to grow in the coming years. In addition, more than one billion consumers worldwide speak Chinese. It is clear that understanding China’s people, culture and language are an important skill for those interested in international jobs, politics for people looking for work in politics, business, marketing, and nearly ever other career path.
“For many, the ability to speak Mandarin or learning Cantonese in Hong Kong has been instrumental to advancing their careers. We have worked closely with our partners in China to make this special offer,” remarked Beth Lieberman, Vice President of AmeriSpan Study Abroad.
The Mandarin dialect spoken both in mainland China and Taiwan is the most widely spoken language in the world and one of the five official languages of the United Nations. Cantonese is the second most extensively spoken Chinese dialect because of the strength of Hong Kong’s economy and culture.
Since Cantonese and Mandarin are not interchangeable, some people choose to study both languages. However, Chinese is not easy to master so we feel the most important thing is to be exposed to the culture, country and people firsthand. We offer several volunteer placements in China where volunteers are not required to learn the language, including a project where participants work with the country’s indigenous Giant Panda,” adds the organization’s co-founder, John Slocum.
People interested in learning more about this special offer or AmeriSpan's other study abroad programs should refer to the company’s website (http://www.amerispan.com) or speak directly to an AmeriSpan study abroad consultant, to speak with someone directly over the phone, call 800-879-6640.

In May 2011, the company was named a finalist for the Star Award as Best Agency in North America for the fourth consecutive year. 'Get It Done' Poll: Vote to Sponsor Children in Argentina!

Vote Now - The Dutch organization Get it Done is hosting a Facebook poll among three great organizations around the world, and the winning organization will receive exposure on its website and Facebook pages. AmeriSpan's vote goes to Go Give an Opportunity, a fabulous charity that provides less fortunate children with the tools they need to receive a great education!
Here is Go Give an Opportunity!'s mission statement:

Our main goal is to promote local education among students of high academic performance and low economical resources. We want to be able to provide those children who show good standing, the possibility to access the proper education eliminating any of the common obstacles brought by the lack of money and food in the families. At the same time we want to further educate these children with the proper values, customs, responsibilities and teach them to have their own personal goal in life. We want to provide children with all the tools needed to be successful and come out of poverty.

Connie Marianacci, head of the program, is a former AmeriSpan employee and John Slocum, Co-founder of AmeriSpan, is the Secretary of the organization.

Free Study Guides and Practice Tests

The Study Guide Zone is a great place to learn basic information about different exams. Most visitors, however, will already know the exam they are going to take, and will be looking for some preparation help. This is where the Study Guide Test Directory comes in handy. Simply click on the name of your exam and you will be taken to a page containing detailed information and links to free preparation materials. For many of the exams, this preparation material includes extensive study guides covering every aspect of the examination. Within each guidebook, there is indispensable advice about the content and format of the exam. Did you know that there are specific strategies that can improve your performance on multiple-choice questions? Or that you can raise your score on reading comprehension exercises simply by adopting the right approach? Whatever exam you are taking, there is practical, common-sense information for you in our study guides. And best of all, it is all absolutely free of charge.
In addition, many of the exam pages listed in the Test Directory contain links to practice questions composed by test experts. Each set of practice questions is modeled directly on the real exam, so that your preparation can be as authentic as possible. These questions will give you a feel for the format and difficulty level you can expect when you sit for your exam. Also, at the Study Guide Zone we are aware that learning to solve the problem is as important as getting the correct answer, so each set of practice questions includes an answer key with clear explanations.
The benefits offered by the Study Guide Zone do not stop on examination day, either. Because so many test-takers are also thinking about going off to college, the Study Guide Zone also contains a wealth of advice on picking a college, getting financial aid, and adjusting to life away from home. All of this can be found by clicking on the “College Tips” section. There are articles on picking a major, applying for scholarships, even joining the ROTC! Whether you are bound for an Ivy League school or your local community college, Study Guide Zone has some useful information for you.
Finally, be sure to check out the “Study Tips” section for some great general advice on taking tests, writing research papers, and getting the most out of your time in the classroom. This section of the Study Guide Zone summarizes the most important education research, and, perhaps more importantly, describes some of the ways you can use the insights of this research to improve your performance. It can be helpful even if you aren’t preparing for an exam or planning for college.
Once again, thanks for stopping by the Study Guide Zone. As you can see, we have done our best to pack this site with free, useful information. Whatever path you are taking, we hope you will find something here to help you along the way!

Study Guide Zone

To begin with, this study guide site provides general information for four different kinds of examination: admission, licensing, vocational, and primary/secondary. Admission exams are those like the SAT or GRE that are taken as part of your application to college or graduate school. Licensing exams, for example the NCLEX and Praxis exams, are required for certification in professions like teaching and nursing. Vocational exams are part of the admissions process for professional schools and the military. A couple of the more popular vocational exams are the ASVAB and the HOBET examinations. Finally, primary and secondary school exams are those like the FCAT and the THEA that are taken by students in elementary, middle, and high school. Success on secondary exams can be essential to advancing to the next grade or receiving a high school diploma.
